Dear RPL Community,

The glorious arrival of spring coincides with the cumulation of Religion and Public Life’s first full year at HDS. Amid the hectic flurry of these final weeks, we are celebrating months of powerful connection, learning, and collaboration. This quarterly report provides a brief snapshot of RPL's milestones in the Spring semester.

We are inspired by 11 remarkable inaugural Master of Religion and Public Life (MRPL) degree candidates who will graduate in May. We are encouraged by 25 MTS and MDiv students now enrolled in the Certificate in Religion and Public Life (CRPL) program who will undertake internships this summer. As a community of students, scholars, and staff at HDS, we remain enriched by the 20 remarkable resident and non-resident just peace practitioner Fellows who have joined us this year in the both the Religious Literacy and the Professions Initiative (RLPI) and the Religion, Conflict, and Peace Initiative (RCPI).

We will close out RPL’s first academic year with public presentations by RCPI Fellows on cultural activism, final project presentations from our MRPL candidates, an experiential learning trip to Israel/Palestine, and support of 32 students who will engage both domestic and international RLPI and RCPI summer internships. We also look forward to celebrating commencement with our current MRPL candidates and announcing our second cohort for 2022-23.

All of us here at RPL remain so grateful for broad support across Harvard University and Harvard Divinity School as we see our aspirations being realized by those engaging in this important work of fostering the public understanding of religion in service of a just world at peace. Thank you for joining with us!

Fellows gathered to gathered on the HDS campus in Cambridge in early April to strengthen connections built over the course of virtual convenings since September, begin to develop a suite of case studies exploring religious literacy across professions and issue areas related to justice, and to reconfigure the syllabus for the required course for the Certificate in Religion and Public Life, co-taught by the Fellows and Dr. Moore each fall semester.
