L. Hunter Limbaugh has served as the Southeastern Counsel for the California Wine Institute since 2004. He has garnered over 30 years of government experience.

Hunter earned his JD from Stetson University College of Law in 1982. He would go on to practice law as a litigator for 20 years, including time spent as a partner at the Willcox, Buyck & Williams PA Law Firm and as a member of South Carolina Bar House of Delegates.

In 1994, Hunter was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives as a Republican legislator and served as such from 1995-97. In 1997, Hunter became Chief Legal Counsel to South Carolina Governor David Beasley and continued in this capacity till 1999. From 2000-01, he was the Director of Law and Government Affairs at AT&T.

When his daughter was diagnosed with diabetes on March 16, 2001, Hunter became an active volunteer for the American Diabetes Association, serving two terms on the National Board of Directors, including as Chair of the Board in 2012. He now serves on the Board of Directors of the Diabetes Leadership Council and the Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition.

Hunter is now engaged in the academic study of religion, particularly its relationship to politics and policy, and the ways in which religion, politics, and policy act on each other in American society and culture.
