Mario Cader-Frech is renowned for his contributions in social responsibility and media. During his twenty-year tenure at ViacomCBS, as Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility, Mario spearheaded over 60 impactful campaigns and content, leaving a lasting mark on the industry.

Under his leadership, Viacom underwent a transformative period, implementing initiatives addressing pressing social issues such as HIV/AIDS, Human Trafficking, Bullying, Teen Pregnancy, Gender and Race Equity, and LGBTQ+ Rights. Mario's strategic guidance made the company a pioneer in raising awareness, promoting inclusivity, and driving positive change to nearly a billion cumulative subscribers in over 160 countries and territories via television programming (Documentaries, telenovelas, and reality shows), special events, digital offerings, and more. He is known for developing a financial sustainable business model for social impact media production. Mario continues to work in the industry as an Executive Producer of MTV Documentaries.

Driven by a deep curiosity about the intersection of religion and media, Mario embarked on a new path. He transitioned to study at Harvard Divinity School, seeking a profound understanding of the relationship between these spheres. In 2018 he obtained a Graduate Certificate in Religion and Education. This pursuit reflects his unwavering commitment to social responsibility, exploring how religion and media intersect to create a positive influence on society by examining religious representation in media and its potential for shaping cultural narratives.

During his Harvard Divinity School Fellowship, 2018-22, one of his notable responsibilities was overseeing the ideation of the DeeperDive.org project, promoting Just Peace through the advancement of Religious Literacy in Hollywood. His goal as an MRPL ’24 candidate is to design a program that advocates embracing Religion in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs at media companies. He understands that on-screen representations of religious themes and characters significantly shape our understanding off-screen, impacting our behavior towards others. By promoting accurate and thoughtful portrayals of religious diversity in media content, Mario believes audiences would be inspired to reduce conflict and antagonism.

Mario is an avid contemporary art collector and is a board member of the Art Basel Global Patrons Committee, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA NYC), Reina Sofia Museum (Madrid), and Y.ES Contemporary.

Mario is a professional car racer and has won more than fourteen podiums at the Formula and Automobile Racing of America cup in Homestead-Miami Speedway–including the 2021 Race Championship; he includes boxing in his training routine to help improve hand-eye coordination and reaction time as well as cardio endurance.
