Experiential Education

RCPI’s innovative approach includes bringing a group of students from across Harvard to study a particular conflict situation up-close and in-depth. By experiencing the case through the RCPI teaching method, students and fellows gain deep knowledge of the context, as well as develop skills in conflict transformation that is applicable in other contexts.

Learning in Context: Narratives of Displacement and Belonging in Israel/Palestine (HDS 3335)

Application open from September 4, 2023 to October 1, 2023

An interdisciplinary field study seminar open to all Harvard graduate students. The course will be offered as a full-semester course in the spring 2024 term, with J-Term travel dates of January 3-16th, 2024 for the experiential portion of the course. Students will be required to attend pre-travel coursework. Please note that enrollment in the spring course is mandatory for travel to the region.

  • Required for paid summer internships

This course is open to ALL Harvard graduate students and especially salient for current or aspiring government officials, humanitarian aid workers, journalists, educators, public health officials, legal scholars, human rights and/or environmental advocates, artists, and design planners who are eager to think in fresh ways about seemingly intractable challenges in an interdisciplinary context. Course is pre-requisite for those interested in an internship with RCPI. Travel stipend offered.

Important Dates

  • Required coursework during the fall semester pre-travel October 30, November 6, 13 and 27 (4:30 – 6:30pm), and December 1 (9 – 1pm, lunch provided)

  • Application deadline on October 1, 2023

  • Selected students will be notified by October 15, 2023
